BARRY KIESELSTEIN-CORD Estate Sterling Alligator + Diamond Cuff Bracelet
Creating art as objects, with a sense of style ungoverned by the whims of fashion, Barry Kieselstein-Cord was a talented artist known for his somewhat bold, sculptural, sophisticated and primitive techniques. His often whimsical pieces are coveted because they are thought of as much more than jewelry and accessories, but instead as a piece of art. Many of his creations have been accepted into the permanent collections of the Louvre in Paris, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston as examples of fine arts, but more importantly, they are valued by individual collectors, who collect and display them every day in the world’s greatest gallery in the world—its streets.
This fabulous Vintage alligator bracelet is a signed piece by Barry Kieselstein-Cord from circa 2000! Crafted in sterling silver, this substantial cuff style bracelet displays a unique and stylish reptile design. This piece appears to be created out of one curved link, and resting diagonally at the center are two alligators with tails that wrap around the back. The realistic looking reptile heads slightly overlap and each eye is dotted with a lovely accent diamond, adding a fabulous sparkling detail. The back and sides of the alligators are accented with wonderful scale-like texture, and the tails curve slightly as they rest towards the back. Each alligator leg extends slightly over the edge of the link, allowing the outline of the body to come alive as it rests against the wrist when worn. The entire bracelet displays a fabulous smoothly polished finish, reflecting the light beautifully with every turn. The cuff tapers into two small rounded tips at the front, which frame the alligators, and resting at the back is an opening where the bracelet can easily be slipped on and off. Stamped inside the bracelet on a small plaque is the authentic "©B.KIESELSTEIN CORD 2000" maker's beside a moon and star hallmark and "925" silver purity stamp. The bracelet comes with the original black velvet pouch and dark green fabric box and lid, which is labeled on the inside "BARRY CORD FOR KIESELSTEIN-CORD SPORT" in gold lettering. A wonderful example of Barry Kieselstein-Cord's work, this 3-dimensional design has a flowing, sculptural appearance that would delight any reptile lover!
Measurements: The inside of the cuff bracelet (where a wrist would rest) measures approximately 2 3/8" wide and about 1 1/2" tall, and would fit nicely on an average to medium sized wrist. The surface of the bracelet at the front measures about 1 1/4" wide, and at the back, measures about 1 3/8" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting. Both diamond eyes are intact and securely set. The original suede pouch, box and lid remain in excellent used condition.
