BIRKS Art Nouveau 14kt Peridot & Pearl Lavalier Pin/Pendant
An elegant lavalier pin/pendant from the Art Nouveau (ca1900) era! A signed antique piece by Maison Birks, this delicate piece is crafted in 14kt yellow gold and holds a gorgeous prong set peridot stone in its center. The peridot is faceted with a lively green color, and surrounded by a flowing curvilinear design. Decorating the surface of the lavalier are delicate natural seed pearls in a fine pavé setting. Dangling freely from the bottom is a single oval peridot stone held in a prong setting. The entire pendant hangs from a swinging hidden gold bail at the top, and a secure pin clasp can be found on the back. The underside of the piece is stamped “14KT” and "BIRKS". A stunning example of fine Art Nouveau era jewelry, it would make a special addition to any collection!
Measurements: When worn as a pendant, the piece hangs approximately 1 1/4" long, and when worn as a pin, it measures 1 1/8" tall. The piece is 1 1/8” across at the widest point, and approximately 1/4" at its thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting, and the pearls and both peridots are intact. The bail and pin clasp are both secure and in good working condition.
