CARLO WEINGRILL Vintage 18kt Mixed Metals Diamond Bracelet
Established in Verona in 1879, Italian jewelry designer Carlo Weingrill, was a master of 18kt gold jewelry. Each handcrafted piece features top quality craftsmanship that has been handed down today through the generations.
Carlo began working as an apprentice in a goldsmith shop at the age of 11 and in 1879, at 22, he decided to open his own factory. Carlo Weingrill was the original manufacturer behind some of the most classic and recognizable designs in jewelry including Bulgari’s famous tubogas-style bracelets, necklaces and rings, various gold cuffs for Tiffany & Co. and the Trinity bangle bracelets for Cartier. He died in 1924, and his two sons, Armando and Gastone, took over, transforming the small artisan business into a high-powered industry, gaining a worldwide reputation for fine workmanship. Carlo's granddaughter, Paola Weingrill, who grew up in the jewelry factory, runs the business today and still employs the same handcrafted artisanship into each piece.
This incredible Vintage gold bracelet, most likely from the 1970s, is a fantastic example of the Weingrill artisanship! Crafted in vibrant 18kt yellow and white gold, this gorgeous piece displays a classic bangle design. The bracelet is comprised of a wide and flat, polished gold surface which carries around the entire length of the piece, graduating slightly towards the back. Eleven elongated white gold rings attach atop the gold surface in an alternating pattern, each featuring eight sparkling Brilliant Cut diamonds set along the surface. These bold bands of white gold create a wonderful mixed metals design, and the diamond element makes the piece sparkle with every turn. The seamless and flexible design of the bracelet opens in the back, expanding to accommodate the wearer's wrist, and closing quickly and tightly upon wearing, no need for a clasp. Stamped on one side of the opening is the makers mark "WEINGRILL" and on the other side, is the Weingrill hallmark, along with "750," and "15," a star, and "VR." This bracelet has a modern, yet classic look and could be worn alone or stacked with other bracelets. It would make a perfect piece for the fashion conscious woman.
