Vintage 18kt Carved Salmon Coral Buddha Pendant
A wonderful and very artistic vintage coral charm/pendant from the 1960s! This decorative figural piece is made of hand carved salmon coral with 18kt yellow gold accents. The pendant is likely of Asian origin, and depicts a man- possibly Buddha- wearing a traditional Asian sun hat, which has a conical shape and is crafted in yellow gold. Lightly engraved detail on the top of the hat gives the appearance of individual pieces of straw. The hand-carved figure is three-dimensional and very detailed, including a shrouds of fabric that form a draped robe, textured hair, individual facial features, and one raised hand. The figure is perched atop a round gold base, which forms a smooth seal on the bottom. Attached to the top of the hat is a wrapped gold wire that forms a loop, making it easy to hang and wear the piece from a favorite gold chain. A wonderful handmade piece, it would make a special addition to any collection!
Measurements: The piece hangs 1 1/4" long, measures approximately 3/8" wide and thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the carved coral or gold accents, and the loop for hanging is secure and intact.
