Victorian Sterling Chalcedoney + Amethyst Intaglio Amulet Fob Pendant
A beautiful chalcedony amulet from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This pendant features an elongated piece of chalcedony stone, which has been hand carved into a smooth urn-like shape. The milky grey-blue color of the chalcedony is lovely and very translucent, giving a soft and alluring appearance to the design. A sterling silver cap rests at the top, which is decorated with a hand etched motif and attached to a sterling ring for hanging. At the very top of the cap is an amethyst seal, which bears the intaglio image of what appears to be a running deer with antlers. When worn, the piece hangs at a slight tilt, and would look lovely paired with a fine silver chain. A unique Victorian era fob, it would make a lovely addition to any collection!
Measurements: The fob measures 1 3/4" long, and is 3/8" wide and thick at the base.
Condition: The overall condition of the fob is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there are no apparent chips or scratches to the surface of the chalcedony stone or amethyst intaglio. The sterling findings are all intact and secure. There is a natural patina on the sterling cap, which is normal for antique jewelry and adds to its depth and character.
