Art Nouveau 18kt Opal Bracelet with Angel Motif
A beautiful and unusual opal bracelet from the 1900s! Made of 18kt yellow gold, this gorgeous piece carries a wonderful and romantic angelic design. Set in the belly front of the bracelet is a vivid opal stone which is oval shaped and substantial in size. The stone is bezel set with a wide gold frame and has vibrant flashes of color which include red, orange, green, yellow and blue. Resting on either side of the opal and acting as the band of the bracelet are 2 whimsical angels which have their hands resting in a casual prayer position. The carved details of the angels are wonderful and include soft facial features, textured feather wings and flowing locks of hair. The bottom half of their bodies has a textured surface which seamlessly blend into the remaining part of the bracelet band. The piece is hinged on either side of the opal as well as at the side and opens with a hidden push clasp; a safety chain provides extra security when worn. A magnificent and unusual piece, it would make a fantastic addition to any collection!
Measurements: The inside diameter (where your wrist would rest) measures approximately 2 1/2" wide and 1 7/8" high. The surface width of the bracelet measures 7/8" wide at the front (where the opal is set) and measures just under 1/8" wide at the narrowest point (the back of the bracelet).
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or opal stone, which is intact. The clasp and hinges are secure and in good working condition.
