Early Victorian Silver/14kt Gold & Diamond Safety Pin .40ctw
A stunning diamond safety pin from the Early Victorian (ca1850) era! This stylish antique piece is crafted in silver-topped 14kt gold. The design acts as a fully functional safety pin (sometimes also called a "nappy pin" or "diaper pin"), and is encrusted with sparkling mine cut diamonds. The delicate diamonds line the surface in a fine pavé setting, weighing approximately .40ctw combined. The old-fashioned safety pin design is hinged at the back and lifts up from the top, representative of its early Victorian era fabrication. Stamped on the side of the pin clasp is a small maker's hallmark and the letter "A." Both beautiful and versatile, this pin would compliment any sense of fashion, and and would make a lovely addition to any antique collection!
Measurements: The pin measures 1 7/8" in total length. The narrow central bar measures 1/16" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the pin is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver-topped gold setting. All of the diamonds are intact and securely set. The pin clasp function fastens securely and is in good working condition. There is a natural patina on the surface of the setting, which is a normal characteristic of antique jewelry.
