Edwardian English 9kt Gold Heart Signet Ring
A signet ring can be represented by a smooth or engraved seal, or with an intaglio, which is created by carving into the surface of a stone. Its purpose would have been to seal the wax of a letter or note.
A wonderful gold signet ring from the Edwardian (ca1909) era! This beautiful piece is made of 9kt yellow gold and has a flat heart shaped face in the center. A lovely scrolled design accents the sides of the heart and gives the piece an attractive texture and perfectly compliments the romantic heart center. The signet has a smooth surface, allowing the wearer to add a set of engraved initials or simply leave it smooth if desired. The shank has several English hallmarks including the makers mark which has been worn away, "9," "375," an anchor (indicating that the piece was assayed in Birmingham), and a lower case "k" (indicating that it was hallmarked in the year 1909). This beautiful ring has a simple and romantic design that would make a lovely gift for someone special!
Measurements: The signet heart measures slightly less than 1/2" tall and 3/8" wide. The ring has a finger size 8, but could easily be re-sized.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold.
