Edwardian 9kt Multi Gemstone "REGARD" Acrostic Ring
A lovely "REGARD" ring from the Edwardian (ca1910) era! This charming acrostic ring is made of 9kt gold (indicating English origin), and has a lovely feminine design. Set across the front is a row of six delicate gemstones, whose first letters spell out the word "REGARD." The stones include a Ruby, Emerald, Garnet, Amethyst, a second Ruby, and a Diamond. Decorating each side of the band is the word "REGARD" spelled out in filigree letters- an unusual touch! The shoulders are detailed with a scrolled filigree motif, extending to a tapered band that is smooth in the back. There are several English hallmarks stamped inside the shank, including "REM", a set of scales, "375", and an anchor. This wonderful ring is part of a sentimental antique tradition, and it would make a special gift in the modern day!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size of 7.25 but could easily be re-sized. The gemstone design rests approximately 3/16" above the finger when worn. The tapered band measures 2mm wide at the back.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or to any of the gemstones, all of which are intact and securely set.
