Art Deco French 18k Enamel Black Cat Pendant

SKU: 46160

The superstitions surrounding black cats varies from culture to culture, but black cats have positive associations in the Celtic nations and Japanese folklore. Black cats were sacred in Celtic mythology. Scottish lore holds that a black cat's arrival at a new home signifies prosperity, while Welsh lore states that a black cat brings good health.

A fantastic pendant from the Art Deco (ca1930s) era! Crafted in 18k gold, this pendant displays an encircled black cat! The pendant hangs from a large oval bail, ready to wear on a favorite chain. Several French hallmarks including an eagle and what appears to be the French weevil are shown at the top near the bail. A stylish piece that perfectly blends into modern day fashion, this piece would be a wonderful addition to any collection!

Measurements: The pendant measures roughly 5/8" in diameter.

Condition: The pendant is in excellent condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. The bail is in good working condition.
