H. STERN Vintage 18kt Opal & Diamond Ring
German-born jewelry designer Hans Stern began his career as a jeweler in Brazil, which is a rich natural source of colored gemstones. He started the company H. Stern in 1945 and focused on quality production, beautiful designs centered around colored gemstones, and an innovative marketing campaign that put him on the map. Natural stones incorporated into the jewelry included rubies, emeralds, aquamarines, amethysts, tourmalines, citrines, topaz, and opals. Since its founding, the company H. Stern has evolved with the times and continues to create enchanting works of art in the form of jewelry. The designs appeal to a worldwide market, and the name H. Stern has become synonymous with beauty, quality, and elegance.This fabulous vintage ring (ca1950s-1960s) is a signed piece by designer H. Stern! Made of 18kt yellow gold, this striking ring features 4 opal cabochons that are set across the front in a raised prong design. Each alluring opal has a beautiful range of iridescent colors, including shades of blue, green, violet, orange, gold, and shimmery white. Nestled in between each opal is a delicate full cut diamond. There are 6 diamonds in total, which add a wonderful sparkle to the piece! Completing the design is a split shank, meeting at a smooth gold band in the back. Inside the shank is the official "H. Stern" hallmark beside the stamp "18K." The ring comes in its original navy blue leatherette box with a snap closure. The box is marked "H. Stern" and "RIO DE JANEIRO SÃO PAULO" inside the lid. A wonderful example of H. Stern's stylish designs, this ring would make a special addition to any collection!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size of 5.75, but could be resized up or down if necessary. The opal centerpiece measures approximately 3/4" wide and rests 1/4" high.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting, and all of the opals and diamonds are intact and securely set. The box shows normal signs of light surface wear commensurate with age, but remains in good condition and snaps securely shut.
