Edwardian 14kt Diamond Square Head Nail Hinged Bangle Bracelet
A fabulous nail bracelet from the Edwardian (ca1908) era! The square head nail design has been replicated by Gucci since the 1960's with its origins in the equestrian world, which is modeled after the nails used to hold the horses shoe in place. This bangle bracelet is crafted in 14kt rosy yellow gold and depicts a square head nail that curls around the wrist, forming a striking design. Resting near the head of the nail is a single 0.20ct diamond, which sparkles beautifully against the smooth matte finish of the piece. Stamped on the inside of the bracelet is "PAT. JAN 28.08," "14K," and a maker's mark, "F." The clasp is seamlessly incorporated into the design, hidden within the band, and a hinge can be found on the other side of the piece. A classic piece that translates perfectly into a modern day style, it could be worn alone or stacked with other bracelets, and would make a fabulous addition to any collection!
Measurements: When closed, the inside of the bracelet (where a wrist would rest) measures approximately 2 1/8" wide and 2 7/8" tall. The front of the bracelet (where the nail rests) is about 1/2" wide and the back measures a little under 1/4" wide. The bracelet measures approximately 1/8" thick. The bracelet would fit nicely on a medium/average sized wrist.
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the gold setting and the diamond is secure and intact. A small ding can be seen at the tip of the square head nail as well as an additional dent along the interior, however, neither are noticeable when worn. The clasp and hinge are secure and in good working condition.
