Late Victorian 14kt Equestrian Horse Head Locket
A wonderful gold locket from the Late Victorian (ca1900) era! This beautiful piece is made of 14kt rosy yellow gold and has the wonderful repousse image of a stately horse head on the front. The raised equestrian image is very detailed and shows the horse's head in profile, complete with raised ears, a manicured mane, bridle, and reigns. The back of the piece is engraved with a set of monogrammed initials, and the locket opens to reveal a round space inside with a frame to store a special photograph behind glass. At the top of the piece is a simple gold bail marked "14K". It would be perfect for the equestrian enthusiast and would make a very special addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs 1 3/8" long, has a 1" diameter, and measures 3/16" at the thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, is no apparent damage to the gold setting, bail for hanging, or glass frame inside. The locket opens easily and closes securely.
