LEDESMA Vintage Mexican Sterling Tortoise Shell Bracelet

SKU: 0184

$1,195
Now a banned material, Antique and Vintage tortoise shell jewelry has become very collectable. Modernist and unusual, this sterling silver and tortoise shell bracelet is a piece by Mexican artist Enrique Ledesma. From approximately ca1960, the bracelet has a fantastic Modernist design with a rounded tortoise shell plaque and a sterling silver frame. The tortoise shell has wonderful hues of caramel, amber and brown and is slightly translucent. Joining together at the center plaque is a band made of 3 sterling silver bars that are plated to look like mixed metals. The bracelet clasps in the back and has a safety chain for added security. On the underside of the tortoise shell are several markings: "LEDESMA", "TAXCO", "925", "HECHO EN MEXICO" along with the number 3 within an eagle hallmark. A gorgeous bracelet with beautiful and intricate artistry! It would make a great addition to any collection!

Measurements: The wrist opening of the bracelet measures approximately 2 3/8" wide and 1 3/4" tall. The tortoise shell and sterling design measures approximately 2" at its tallest point and 2 3/4" at its widest point. The band of the bracelet measures approximately 3/8" to 1/2" wide.

Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the silver band or details and a beautiful natural patine is on the surface. There is a very small chip at the top of the tortoise plaque which is hardly noticeable and another crack on the back which can't be seen when the bracelet is on. The clasp is secure and in good working condition.
