During the 19th century, the discoveries of ancient archaeological finds influenced and introduced what is referred to as "archaeological revival jewelry," or "Egyptian revival jewelry." The initial Egyptian Revival period flourished from the 1820s and was inspired by ancient Egyptian imagery, such as the scarab beetle, sphinxes, pharaohs, and hieroglyphics.

This fantastic Egyptian Revival style scarab ring is a Retro piece from the 1940s! This stylish ring is made of vibrant 10kt yellow gold and frames a large bloodstone scarab beetle at the center. The bloodstone is simply beautiful, displaying a beautiful deep forest green color flecked with patches of rust red. Hand carved detail represents the scarab's head and winged body, and the underside reveals simple carvings that represent hieroglyphic symbols. Completing the design is a decorative gold setting with a curved pillar motif at the shoulders and fine engraved detail throughout. This magnificent ring makes an impressive statement piece and would be perfect for the vintage collector!

Measurements: The ring has a finger size of 5.75 but could be re-sized if desired. The carved scarab centerpiece measures 1" tall, 3/4" wide, and 3/8" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or to the carved bloodstone scarab, which is intact and free of any noticeable chips or surface scratches.
