RIKER BROTHERS Victorian 14kt Horseshoe Necklace
Not many people are aware that Newark, New Jersey was a major hub for the manufacture of jewelry from the late 1800's until the 1950's. One of the leading companies, the Riker Brothers, has an early history that dates back to 1846. Their pieces are quite sought after and still remain highly collectible today.
This gorgeous necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) era is a fantastic example of the Riker Brothers' talent! Made of vibrant 14kt yellow gold, this fashionable piece is comprised of an original horseshoe design that has been added to a modern gold cable chain, forming a wonderful necklace. The horseshoe is has an engraved groove on the surface and is accented with 7 raised studs to represent nails (always 7 for good luck!). Stamped on the back of the pendant is "14K" along with the authentic Riker Brothers signature hallmark. The gold chain is attached to the top of the horseshoe pendant, which fastens in the back with a 14kt push clasp and safety catch. A fabulous conversion piece, it is ideal for everyday wear, and is perfect for the equestrian enthusiast!
Measurements: The horseshoe pendant hangs 1 1/4" long and measures 1 1/8" wide. The entire length of the necklace measures 16" long.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold pendant or chain, and the push clasp and safety catch are secure and in good working condition.
