Victorian Sterling & Citrine Teardrop Earrings
The citrine is a member of the large quartz family, a family which has a multitude of colors and various structures. The most desirable stones have a clear, radiant yellow to a warm, brownish-red tone.
A beautiful pair of teardrop citrine earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Each earring dangles a pear-shaped citrine below a round citrine surmount. All of the stones are covered in delicate facets and are held within micro prong bezel settings. The stones have a a rich, warm orange color that looks simply magnificent within the open backed sterling settings, allowing the light to pass through as it sparkles! A simple earring wire is attached to the top of each surmount, giving lovely movement to the design when worn. These gorgeous earrings are beautiful in person and would make a lovely addition to any collection!
Measurements: The earrings hang 1 1/4" long, and measure approximately 3/8" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting, or to any of the citrine stones, all of which are intact and free of surface chips or scratches. The earrings wires are secure and in good condition. There is a natural patina that gives a slightly darkened appearance to the silver setting. This is normal for Victorian era jewelry and adds depth and character to its unique appearance.
