Victorian Sterling Sailboat Compass Fob/Pendant
A lovely Victorian sailors compass pendant! Most like originally worn as a fob, this unusual piece is from the Victorian period (ca1880) and made of sterling silver. The pendant portrays the 3-dimensional shape of a sailboat and has a double sided compass at its center. The compass, which is completely transparent, is encased in a sterling bezel setting and the entire piece hangs from a simple sterling ring. The bottom of the boat has several English hallmarks including the letter "h", an anchor, a lion and the initials "WHH". The piece has a wonderful look and would make a perfect gift for the sailor in your life!
Measurements: The sailboat hangs approximately 1 1/4" long, and is about 1 1/4" at it's widest point. The compass has an approximate diameter of 1/2" and is slightly less than 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the piece is great. The compass is in excellent, working condition and besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver. The face of the compass has some minor wear to the front and back however this is hardly noticeable when worn.
