Victorian 14kt Mississippi River Pearl Chain Necklace 49"
A beautiful Mississippi River pearl chain from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Extremely long in length, this necklace is made of 14kt yellow gold strands of chain that alternate with natural Mississippi River pearls. The pearls vary in size and shape, and all display a rich, soft shimmery color that adds a feminine quality to this stunning piece. At the center of the chain is a gold watch swivel clasp (stamped "14K"), making it easy to double the chain and/or to hang a complimentary pendant or locket if desired. It is a beautifully made piece and would be a perfect addition to any Victorian collection!
Measurements: The entire length of the chain measures about 49" long. Each pearl is unique and varies in size, however on average, each pearl measures approximately 1/4" long and wide. The overall pennyweight of the piece is 9.6 dwt.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold strands of chain, and all of the pearls are intact. Some of the pearls show natural variations in color and some signs of surface wear, which is normal for a Victorian era piece and does not detract from their beauty. The watch swivel clasp fastens securely and is in good working condition.
