Victorian 14kt Mythological Creature Diamond Ring .20ct
A striking and very unusual figural ring from the Victorian (ca1880) era! The ring is crafted in 14kt yellow gold and has a very sculpted decorative setting. The face of an animal or mythological creature rests at the center. Its expressive face appears to snarl, exposing a sparkling diamond grasped between its fanged teeth. The diamond weighs approximately .20ct and has H-I range color and SI range clarity. Covering the shoulders and sides of the band is an engraved pattern that could represent scales or feathers, depending on the wearer's interpretation. Stamped inside the shank is "14K". The unique design of the ring would look fabulous worn by a man or woman, and would make a special addition to any collection!
Measurements: The ring has a large finger size 7.75, but could be resized up or down if desired. The face at the center of the ring measures approximately 1/2" in size. The total pennyweight of the piece is 6.0 dwt.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or diamond. The style of the stone suggests that it is not original to the mounting, but was likely previously re-set.
