SKU: 37249
$495
A signet ring can be represented with an intaglio image, which is created by carving below the surface of a stone, or by a simple smooth seal. Its purpose would have been to seal the wax of a letter or note.
A wonderful onyx signet ring from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This artistic ring is made of 14kt yellow gold and has a simple, attractive repousse design that accents the shoulders. Resting in the center is a rectangular black onyx stone, forming a smooth seal. The contrast between the bold onyx and the gold setting is very striking! Stamped inside the shank of the ring is "14K-X". A very stylish Victorian piece, the design could appeal to a woman or man, and would make a special addition to any collection!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size of 5 but could be resized if desired. The onyx center measures approximately 3/8" wide and nearly 1/2" tall.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the yellow gold setting or onyx stone, which is intact.
