Victorian 14kt Yellow Gold Ball Locket
A fabulous 14kt gold ball locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This stylish piece has a three-dimensional design that forms a smooth spherical shape. The front of the piece decorated with a raised gold appliqué motif, which forms a pattern of scrolls and spears bordered by two textured stripes. The ball is hinged at the side, and opens to reveal an hollow compartment inside with a removable glass frame, perfect for storing a special photograph or small keepsake object. A gold bail and jump ring are securely attached to the top, making it easy to hang the locket from a favorite chain. Measurements: The locket hangs 1 1/4" long (including the jump ring and bail) and has a 3/4" diameter. The removable round glass frame inside the locket measures approximately 5/8" in diameter.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is very good. There is some light surface wear to the back of the piece, which is normal for an antique piece, and is minor and unnoticeable when worn. There is no apparent damage to the gold setting or raised and engraved details. The pendant opens easily and fastens shut securely, and the bail is secure and intact. The removable glass frame inside remains intact.
