Victorian 15kt Amethyst & Citrine Bug Pin
A colorful gemstone bug pin from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This beautiful piece is made of 14kt yellow gold and has a wonderful, eye-catching design. The pin represents a winged bug, whose body is represented by two luscious amethyst stones. Its open wings are formed by golden citrine stones, which pair perfectly with the vivid purple amethyst. All six of the gemstones are faceted and catch the light when worn. Six bent gold legs peek out from the underside of the bug, and its head has engraved eyes are two curled antennae. A very ornate prong setting is visible from the sides of the piece, and a c-catch pin clasp is securely fastened to the back. This delightful Victorian piece is a wonderful example of insect-inspired jewelry, and is perfect for any collector!
Measurements: The pin measures approximately 1 1/4" long, 1 3/8" wide, and 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the pin is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or to the citrine and amethyst stones, all of which are intact. The pin clasp is secure and in good working condition.
