Victorian 15kt Etruscan Hanging Foxtail Earrings
A fantastic pair of gold Etruscan earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Made of 15kt yellow gold (indicating English origin), these marvelous earrings have a dramatic hanging design and are beautifully decorated with a delicate Etruscan bead and wirework pattern. Each earring has an elongated bell-shaped link that hangs from a gold wire and cap at the top. Swinging freely from the bottom is a foxtail design comprised of a row of 7 braided gold strands, each ending in a delicate spear. Despite their substantial design, the earrings are very lightweight and comfortable to wear. They have lovely movement and would make a gorgeous addition to any collection!
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 2 3/8" long, is 3/4" at the widest point, and 3/8" at the thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is very good. There is some surface wear to the gold, including a few very small holes located at each topper, however it is not noticeable when worn and does not detract from the beauty of the design. The earring wires are secure, and all of the hanging foxtail spears are intact.
