A fabulous pin/pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This large piece is crafted in 15kt gold, displaying multiple deep golden, yellow and rose gold tones, and can be worn as a locket/pendant or pin. The pin/pendant, which has a shield-like shape, adorns a gorgeous Etruscan wire and beadwork motif and at the center is a large rectangular plaque which displays a wonderful 3-dimensional bird design. The yellow and rose gold bird has a realistic appearance and rests atop a branch while leaves can be seen in the background. A large complimentary and removable bail rest at the top of the piece, making it easy to hang on a wide Victorian chain or to be worn as a pin by simply sliding off the bail. The back of the locket opens to reveal a glass covered place for your favorite photograph, which currently remains empty. This outstanding piece would look stunning worn alone or paired with other Victorian pendants, and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 2 1/8" long, measures 1 1/8" at the widest point and 1/2" thick. The bail measures 1/2" long.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting and the pin on the back closes easily and securely. The locket and glass cover as well as the removable bail are all secure and in good working condition.
