Victorian 18kt Persian Turquoise & Faceted Gold Ball Earrings
An absolutely incredible pair of earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in 18kt rose gold, each of these wonderful earrings has an elaborate design that hangs from a faceted 15kt gold ball topper and earring wire. Graduating calibrated Persian turquoise stones line the base of the earrings, and a second, faceted gold ball swings freely in the center. This dangling ball hangs from hinged link at the top that is accented by a group of four turquoise stones set within a box setting, and a curled wirework design. Completing the stunning design are seven tiered gold bars which hang from the very bottom of each earring, all adorning a single turquoise stone. Despite their substantial size, the earrings are lightweight and comfortable to wear. A spectacular and very decorative pair of Victorian earrings, they would make a gorgeous addition to any collection!
Measurements: The earrings hang 2 1/8" long, measure approximately 1" at the widest point and 3/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or wires and all of the Persian turquoise stones are intact. There is a natural patina along the surface of the earrings which is commensurate with age and adds depth to the already beautiful design. When testing the earrings, we noticed that the faceted gold balls were 15kt gold while the remaining parts of the earrings are 18kt gold; this could mean that the earrings are not entirely original, however, we can not be sure. Regardless, they look original and are absolutely fantastic when worn.
