Victorian 18kt Turquoise & Diamond Enameled Buckle Locket
A lovely gold locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This beautiful piece is made of 18kt yellow gold and carries a raised turquoise, diamond and enameled design on the face. The design is of an ornate belt buckle which is accented with calibrated Persian turquoise and 2 old Rose Cut diamonds that rest within the buckle tongue. Two layered pieces of gold "fabric" loop through the center of the turquoise buckle, creating a realistic, 3-dimensional design and rich black striped enameling runs along the surface, completing the look beautifully. The oval shaped locket is medium sized but carries an exceptional design. The piece hangs from a complimentary bail which allows you to easily attach it to a gold chain and the inside opens to reveal a glass covered space for your favorite photograph. It's a beautiful piece and would make a great addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 1 3/8" long, is 3/4" wide and slightly less than 3/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold and all of the turquoise and diamond stones are intact. The locket closes securely and opens easily and the glass covered locket is intact.
