Victorian Sterling Tiger's Eye & Seed Pearl Bug Pin
A simply wonderful seed pearl and tiger's eye bug pin from the late Victorian (ca1900) era! The piece, which depicts a large winged bug, is made of sterling silver and has a body made of an oval shaped tiger's eye stone. The bug has wide open wings that are encrusted with fine natural seed pearls and ornate, curled antennae sprout out of the top of the head. Two small cabochon rubies represent the eyes and additional seed pearls are set on the back of the bug. Four curved legs peek out from the underside of the bug and a c-catch clasp can be found on the back. The pin has a wonderful 3-dimensional look with beautiful detail throughout and the lovely piece would make a perfect addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pin measures approximately 1 3/4" wide, a little more than 1 1/8" tall and a little more than 1/4" in depth.
Condition: The overall condition of the pin is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting or to the large tiger's eye stone. All of the pearls and rubies are intact and the pin clasp is secure and in good working condition.
