Victorian Large 15kt Rose + Yellow Gold Hoop Earrings
A very striking pair of two-tone gold earrings from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! These dramatic earrings are crafted in 15kt yellow and rose gold and are quite substantial in size. A large oval-shaped open hoop hangs in the center, attached to a decorative pillar-shaped link at the top. The hinged surmount has a rose gold surface, which contrasts beautifully with the yellow gold rings, and together, the elongated hoops hang from simple earring wires with hollow gold beads at the base. The earrings have lovely movement when worn and despite their large size, they are lightweight and comfortable to wear. A wonderful example of Victorian-era jewelry, they would make a marvelous addition to any collection!
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 2 1/4" long, measures 1 1/8" at the widest point and 1/4" at the thickest point. The overall pennyweight of the earrings is 10.5dwt.
Condition: The earrings remain in overall excellent antique condition. The earring wires are secure and hinged surmounts, gold beads and hoops are all in good condition. There is some normal surface wear to the gold, commensurate with age, which is minor and not uncommon for a Victorian era piece.
