Victorian Silver Gilt Ivory & Diamond Skull & Crossbones Stick Pin
A fantastic silver gilt skull stick pin from the Victorian (ca1880) era! The skull is hand carved from ivory and has a crudely carved design reminiscent of pirate folk lore, complete with gilded crossbones protruding from the sides. Two delicate mine cut diamonds have been set in the skull's eyes, adding a wonderful sparkle! The design has a simple and charming appearance, including an open mouth, carved teeth and defined cheek bones.
Measurements: The stickpin measures a little more than 2" in total length; the gold skull top measures approximately 1/2" tall, 1/2" wide and 3/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the stickpin is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the silver gilt setting, only slight color variation on the back due to a natural patina and slight fading of the original gilt. The carved ivory skull remains intact and secure, with some naturally occurring brown coloring that adds depth to the design. Both mine cut diamonds are intact and securely set.
