Victorian Gold-Filled Carved Mother of Pearl Hand Pendant
A beautiful carved mother of pearl pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This hand-carved piece is particularly large in size and has a lovely and artistic appearance. An elegant hand holds a faceted "diamond" between the thumb and forefinger, represented by a faceted rock quartz crystal. The shimmery white mother of pearl surface is accented with carved details and gold-filled findings, including a ring worn on the index finger, and bands of wire that wrap around the cuffed sleeve at the wrist. The piece is finished with a gold-filled cap and bail at the top, perfect for hanging the piece from a favorite chain. This unusual piece has a strong Victorian look that would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pendant hangs approximately 2 1/8" long (including the bail at the top), measures 3/4" at the widest point, and 3/16" at the thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the carved mother of pearl, rock quartz crystal, or gold-filled findings. The bail is secure and in good condition.
