Victorian 9kt Gunmetal Double Coin Holder Locket
A fabulous gunmetal coin holder/locket from the Victorian period (ca1880). This unusual piece is particularly large in size and made of gunmetal, forming an egg-shaped locket. The gunmetal has a wonderful dark matte finish and the piece is accented by rosy 9kt gold. A small push button clasp rests at the top of the locket which allows the front to open and reveal two expandable coin slots. One slot is slightly larger than the other and both are made of rosy 9kt gold. There is a round gold bail at the top which is hinged at the base and stamped "GERMANY". A very unique piece, it would look fabulous hanging from a long chain and would make a beautiful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The coin holder locket hangs a little less than 2 3/4" tall, 1 1/4 at the widest point and 3/4" thick. The two coin slots have diameters of approximately 3/4" and 7/8".
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the coin holder locket and the piece opens easily and stays securely closed. Both interior coin compartments are in good working condition.
