Victorian Large 18kt Etruscan Foxtail Fringe Earrings
A fantastic pair of gold Etruscan earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Made of 18kt yellow gold, these marvelous earrings have a dramatic hanging design and are quite substantial in size and appearance. Each earring is beautifully decorated with a delicate Etruscan beadwork and wirework pattern covering the surface. A large teardrop link comprises the center, hanging from a gold wire surmount at the top. The center of the link is concave, where a 3-dimensional oval rests inside. Swinging freely from the bottom is a foxtail fringe design comprised of a row of straight gold bars. The hinged bar links are graduated, forming a "V" shaped design at the base. Despite their substantial design, the earrings are lightweight and comfortable to wear. They frame the face perfectly and would make a spectacular addition to any antique jewelry collection!
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 2 3/8" long, is 3/4" at the widest point, and 3/8" at the thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or Etruscan beadwork and wirework details. The earring wires are secure, and all of the hanging foxtail spears are intact.
