Victorian Onyx Rose Cut Diamond Locket & Chain
An absolutely stunning onyx locket and chain from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This unusual piece features a solid black onyx locket that is rather large and carved into an oval shape. Riveted into the center is an ornate sterling silver design adorned with sparkling Rose Cut diamonds. The locket hangs from its original complimentary chain, comprised of black onyx links interspersed with sterling bead and wirework connectors. Several additional Rose Cut diamonds accent the chain throughout, adding a wonderful sparkle! The chain meets at a bow-shaped link in the center, which attaches securely to the locket. A barrel push-clasp connects the chain at the back. On the back of the locket is a removable glass frame, which is a perfect place for your favorite photograph. A beautiful and unusual piece from the Victorian era, it and would make a special addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs 3 1/4" long (including the extension) measures 2" tall, 1 5/8" wide, and 1/2" thick. The chain measures approximately 18" long.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the onyx or sterling silver, and all of the Rose Cut diamonds are intact. The glass frame on the back of the locket is intact, and the barrel catch is secure.
