Victorian Rare Sterling Silver Photo Portrait Ring
A wonderful and very unusual photo portrait ring from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This rare piece is made of sterling silver and features an old photograph portrait at the center. The photo is sealed behind what appears to be a clear celluloid layer added in a later era, protecting the photograph from potential damage or wear. The shoulders of the ring are adorned with a decorative design, which includes a small star contained within an open chevron at each side, and delicate beadwork that travels along the back of the band. A natural patina adds a darkened antique look within the carved grooves of the setting, giving further depth to the design. Stamped inside the shank is "STERLING". A very unique Victorian piece, it has wonderful historic appeal and is a must for any collector!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size of 7, but could be re-sized if needed. The center of the ring measures 3/4" tall and 1/2" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is very good. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling setting photo portrait, which is intact. The celluloid layer has a small chip near the top, which is not noticeable when worn and does not detract from the beauty of the ring.
