Victorian Sterling Cupid Pin with Gold Bow & Arrow
An absolutely wonderful sterling cherub pin from the Victorian (ca1880) era! The piece, which depicts a large cupid, has a body made of solid sterling silver. The cherub has open wings atop his back and he appears to be whimsically in flight. The cupid is holding a gold bow and arrow and resting at his waist is a gold quiver filled with additional arrows. The pin has a wonderful 3-dimensional look and exquisite detail throughout, including textured hair and wings, a charming face and a flowing ribbon wrapping around his body. On the back is a secure pin clasp and small "A" hallmark can be found stamped on the gold pin bar. It's a lovely and romantic piece and would make a great addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pin measures approximately 1 3/4" wide, a little less than 3/4" tall and a little more than 1/2" in depth.
Condition: The overall condition of the pin is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver or gold and the pin clasp is secure and in good working condition.
