Victorian Sterling Floral Repousse Ball & Spear Earrings
A wonderful pair of dramatic sterling silver earrings from the Victorian era (ca1880)! Each of these earrings is quite substantial in size and appearance, but is hollow and lightweight for comfortable wear. The design incorporates a large ball at the center, which has a textured repousse surface that boasts a swirled floral motif. Dangling freely below the ball link is a smooth, elongated spear, which could also represent an urn or vessel. The earrings hang from wire tops with sterling ball surmounts, completing the decorative design. When worn, they make quite a stylish statement and would compliment any Victorian collection!
Measurements: The earrings hang approximately 2 1/2" long, including the wire tops. The repousse ball links have a 3/4" diameter (approximately 20mm in size). The spear links measure 7/8" long and about 1/8" thick. The ball surmounts measure 8mm in size.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling setting, repousse detail, or hanging links. The wires are secure and in good condition.
