Victorian Sterling Pink Tourmaline & Real Butterfly Wing Pin
A beautiful butterfly pin from the Victorian (ca1880) period! This lovely piece is substantial in size, and depicts a 3-dimensional butterfly with wide open wings. A pair of real butterfly wings are carefully preserved behind glass, resting within the sterling silver setting. Each wing has wonderful natural coloring with speckled beige and cream colors. Decorating the vertical body and eyes are luscious faceted pink tourmalines, which add a wonderful quality and light-catching appearance! Completing the design are two fine silver antennae at the top of the head, and a secure bar pin clasp hidden on the back of the wings. Stamped on the back of the piece is "935." This gorgeous piece is perfect for any butterfly lover and would make a unique addition to any collection!
Measurements: The butterfly has a wingspan measuring 1 7/8" wide. It measures 1 3/8" tall from top to bottom, and is approximately 1/8" at the thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the pin is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling setting or to the real butterfly wings, glass coverings, or pink tourmalines, all of which are intact. The pin clasp fastens securely and is in good working condition.
