A fabulous heart-shaped locket and chain from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This wonderful necklace is comprised of a feminine locket which hangs from a complimentary ornate link chain. The locket, which is crafted in sterling silver, is heart in shape and fairly large in size. Engraved on the surface is a set of monogrammed initials written in a flowing cursive script which appears to read "MCV". The locket is hinged at the side, and opens to reveal two spaces to store special photographs inside; additionally the original black and white photo of a woman is still present.
It appears that the sterling heart was once plated in gold as the interior has a vibrant gold finish and faint golden hues can be seen within the crevices of the monogrammed initials on the front. These golden accents perfectly compliment the gilded sterling chain which the locket hangs from. The chain itself is comprised of alternating ornate links which have a wonderful floral motif. The interior of the locket is stamped "STERLING". The chain and locket make a beautiful and romantic combination and the necklace looks gorgeous when when worn. A stunning antique statement piece, it would make a stylish addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs 1 7/8" long, is 1 1/2" wide, and 1/4" thick. The chain measures 23" in length and is 1/4" at the widest point
