Victorian Sterling Silver Raised Buckle Locket
An incredible sterling silver locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This fabulous piece is very intricately detailed with a raised, textured surface and buckle-like motif. In the center of the locket is a three-dimensional buckle strap, which is bordered by a beveled edge and open channel. An ornate hand-etched design can be found along the surface of the strap as well as on either side of the raised, center and embossed detail throughout completes the magnificent look. At the top of locket is a fluted bail, allowing it to be hung and worn from your favorite chain. When opened, the interior of the piece reveals two spaces inside to store special photographs behind glass. A beautiful example of Victorian artistry, it has a very striking look and would make an incredible addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs 2 5/8" long (including the bail), measures 1 1/2" wide, and is 1/2" at the thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting or textured design on the front. The locket opens and closes easily and securely and the interior glass in excellent condition.
