Victorian Sterling Silver Repousse Slide Locket
A gorgeous slide locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This wonderful piece is is crafted in sterling silver and features an exquisite repousse design. The face of the locket is decorated with scrolls and flourishes that surround an engraved letter "M" at the center. The opposite side of the locket also features a complimentary swirled motif with feminine floral details. The sliding doors open from the bottom, revealing a hollow compartment inside. A large silver ring at the top is stamped with three small hallmarks, and hangs from a simple bail. The textured design adds wonderful dimension and artistry to the locket, which would look wonderful hanging from a favorite chain. This beautiful Victorian era locket makes an impressive statement piece!
Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 2 7/8" long (including the bail), is 1 5/8" wide, and 3/16" thick. The total weight of the piece is 34 grams.
Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling setting or repousse design. The sliding feature is in good working condition, opening easily and closing securely. The bail at the top is secure and intact.
