Vintage Sterling Opal & Crystal Heart Necklace
A fabulous opal and crystal necklace from the 1950s era! This sterling necklace consists of a large, ornate heart pendant that hangs from a long sterling silver Mexican chain. The hand-wrought pendant has a layered open wirework surface. In the center is a single teardrop-shaped pink crystal, which is surrounded by a border of 8 luscious opals. All of the stones have a pinched bezel setting and rest along the surface of the open wirework body. The heart hangs from a wonderful hand-wrought sterling chain, which fastens with a hook clasp in back (stamped "925 MEXICO"). The pink crystal and white opals look simply wonderful together and, the necklace is certainly a statement piece!
Measurements: The heart shaped pendant hangs approximately 2 1/2" long, is 1 1/2" at the widest point and 1/8" deep. The chain measures 26.5" long.
Condition: The overall condition of the chain and pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver wirework heart and chain and all of the stones are intact. There is a small chip in one of the opal stones, however, this is not noticeable when the necklace is worn.
