Vintage Mexican Sterling Silver Hinged Love Knot Collar Necklace
A stunning Vintage Mexican silver necklace from the 1970s era! Crafted in sterling silver, this bold piece has an inflexible collar design and features a large love knot at its center. The polished sterling necklace is comprised of a thick, silver tube that wraps around the neck, intertwining in the center to form the 3-dimensional love knot. The sterling tube is hinged at both sides and clasps with two hooked ends in the back, creating a seamless design when worn. On the underside of the knot are several stamps: "STERLING," "925," the Mexican silver "eagle" with the number "3" (representing that the necklace was assayed in Taxco), the makers mark "MR," and "MEXICO". It's a wonderful and romantic piece that looks fabulous on and would make a great addition to any collection!
Measurements: When closed, the opening on the inflexible necklace measures 4 3/4" in diameter. The sterling tube measures a little more than 1/4 thick and the love knot centerpiece measures 1 1/8" tall, 1 1/2" at the widest point and 1/2" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling and the clasp is secure and in good working condition.
