Vintage Chinese Silver & Nugget Turquoise Earrings
A wonderful pair of vintage turquoise earrings from the 1930s! Chinese in origin, these lovely earrings have a simple design that features nugget turquoise stones in a silver setting. The natural turquoise stones have a wonderful sea green color, which is marbled with veins of deep brown mineral webbing throughout, known as "matrix." At the top of each earring is a single stone grasped within a 4-prong setting. A larger stone dangles freely below, hanging from a strand of silver chain. The earrings hang from silver wires at the top, and frame the face beautifully when worn. Natural and lovely, they would make a colorful addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 2 1/4” long, including the wires at the top. The turquoise stones vary in shape and size, with the upper stones measuring approximately 1/2" in size, and the larger stones at the base measuring 3/4"-7/8" long, and about 1/2" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the turquoise stones or to the silver setting. The wires are secure and intact. The setting may previously have been gilded at one point, indicated by a subtle gold wash that still remains in a few parts of the setting.
