ALDO CIPULLO 18kt Gold 'C' Hinged Bangle Bracelet
Italian jewelry designer Aldo Cipullo apprenticed at his father's jewelry factory in Florence before moving to New York in 1959. He began his career working for both Tiffany & Co. and David Webb, but soon transitioned to work as a designer for Cartier, where he left his mark on jewelry history forever. While at Cartier, Cipullo designed the iconic Love Bracelet, the Nail Collection, and the "Hamsa Hand" or "Hand of the Heart" pendant. He left Cartier in 1974 to work as a freelance designer, winning multiple awards and continuing to expand his prestige. Though he died suddenly in 1984, his legacy continues today, and his iconic designs are still ever popular and fashionable in the modern era.
This striking Vintage gold bracelet is most likely from the mid to late 1970s and was designed by Aldo Cipullo! Crafted in vibrant 18kt yellow gold, this gorgeous piece displays a classic bangle style design with a bit of a twist. The bracelet is fairly thin in width and has a smoothly polished surface which carries around the entire length. In an unusual fashion, the piece is hinged in the front and clasps at the back where a letter "C" can be found disguising both places. The "C," which represents the Cipullo name, is subtle but gives the otherwise simple design, a lovely touch. The bracelet has two hinged safety hooks at the clasp and several marks can be found along the inside: "©19 A.CIPULLO," "18K," on one side and "© A. CIPULLO," and "18" on the other side. This bracelet is a modern, yet classic piece that could be worn alone or stacked with other bracelets. It would make a perfect piece for the fashion conscious woman.
Measurements: The opening, where a wrist would rest, measures a little less than 2 1/4" wide and slightly less than 1 3/4" tall. The surface of the bangle measures 1/4” wide.
