Art Deco 14kt Carved Onyx + Ruby "Button" Pendant
A charming "button-inspired" pendant from the Art Deco (ca1920s) era! This unusual piece features a round onyx plaque that rests above a 14kt gold backing. A series of grooves have been carved into the surface of the onyx, forming a grid-like pattern. Set within the grooves are four delicate rubies, each contained within a scalloped gold bezel. The rubies are lightly faceted and display a rich pop of natural pinkish-red color, the perfect compliment to the black onyx background! A simple gold bail is attached at the top, allowing the piece to hang from a favorite chain or charm bracelet. This stylish antique pendant has a unique look that would be right at home in any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The pendant hangs 1" in total length (including the bail), measures about 3/4" in diameter, and is 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold backing or to the carved onyx plaque, which is free of chips or scratches. All four rubies are intact and securely set, and the bail is securely attached.
