Art Deco Carved & Painted Celluloid Scarab Cuff Bracelet
A fabulous celluloid cuff bracelet from the Art Deco (ca1920) period! This funky bracelet is comprised of a solid black celluloid cuff, which has hand carved and hand painted detail. On the front is large raised scarab beetle that is carved and painted a deep turquoise color with burnt red detail. On either side of the scarab are two raised "stones" which have been painted to look like lapis stones. The surface of the bracelet has a crisscross-carved design with faint red and green paint detail across the top. The width of the bracelet along the top is thick and becomes thin at both ends, which are rounded. This bracelet would fit best on an average to large sized wrist. A fabulous and unusual piece, this bracelet would make a great addition to any celluloid collection!
Measurements: The width of the bracelet ranges from approximately 1 3/8" wide to 1/4" wide. The scarab beetle measures 1 3/8" tall and 1" wide. The opening where your wrist would slide through measures 1/2" and the opening where your wrist would rest measures approximately 2 3/8" wide and 2" tall.
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. There are some minor surface scratches that are not unusual for a bracelet from this period.
