Art Deco German Gilded Silver Flexible Wrap-Around Coiled Snake Bracelet
A very stylish snake bracelet from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! This German-made piece is crafted in 800 silver with a subtle gilded surface. The 3-dimensional design is comprised of a serpent's body, whose tail and body coils four times around the wrist. Tightly coiled wirework covers the entire body to represent scales, giving wonderful texture to the design. The head of the snake is enhanced with engraved detail as a continuation of the scaled appearance, and red garnet gemstones for eyes. Stamped on the underside of the snake's head are several hallmarks, including "800," a crown, a lion, and a small symbol that appears to be a maker's mark. The bracelet has flexible design that expands slightly when wrapped around the wrist, adjusting to the size of your wrist accordingly and eliminating the need for a clasp. A fabulous and unique accessory, it is perfect for any snake lover and would make a striking everyday piece for the fashion conscious woman!
Measurement: The opening of the bracelet (where your wrist would rest) is slightly adjustable, with the smallest size measuring 1 1/2" in diameter. When stretched, the bracelet expands to approximately 2" in diameter. Its measurements would most comfortably fit a small sized wrist. It could accommodate a medium sized wrist with an extra snug fit. The widest point of the bracelet measures 1 1/4" wide at the front.
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is good. There is some light surface wear to the silver setting, which is normal for an antique piece. The gilt wash is now very subtle, but could be restored if desired. The flexible design is very tight and secure and still retains its shape. Both garnet eyes are intact, and the engraved detail is in good condition.
