A fantastic earring and necklace set from the Art Deco (ca1920s) era! Crafted in sterling silver, this set features rich black Bakelite with a lovely foliate and floral carving. The necklace displays an oval Bakelite piece secured to its frame by dainty prongs, topped with a geometric rhinestone design. Sterling silver bar links create a lovely chain, securing with a spring ring. The link next to the spring ring reads "GERMANY" and an obscured stamped "ATIN". The earrings begin with a square rhinestone surmount attached to a simple post carrying three tiered baguette rhinestones, a foliate Bakelite piece hangs below, secured by a riveted and milgrained silver bail. The friction backings read "STER.". This set has a bold look, and would be a unique addition to any Bakelite collection!
Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 16 1/2" in length. The rhinestone and Bakelite design measures 2 1/4" tall. The Bakelite oval measures about 1 1/2" tall and 1/2" in width. The earrings hang approximately 2 3/4" in length and are 3/8" at their widest point.
Condition: The earrings are in good antique condition. Besides normal srface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting. There is a natural patina on the silver, typical of antique jewelry. The Bakelite is intact and securely set. The rhinestones are in good condition, displaying signs of wear to their facets and the foiled backing.
