Art Deco Sterling Gilt & Opal Filigree Earrings
A charming pair of filigree earrings from the Art Deco (ca1930) era! The earrings are crafted in sterling silver gilt, and feature beautiful opal cabochons. Each opal is bezel set at inside of a cutout airline halo, almost giving the illusion that they are floating freely at the center. The surrounding setting has a teardrop design comprised of flowing filigree wirework, lacy cutouts, and fine milgrain detail. When worn, the multi-colored opals shimmer and flash in the light, displaying an alluring range of blue, green, and orange iridescent shades. A hidden gold post rests on the back of each earring, completing the design. These beautiful earrings would look wonderful worn day or night!
Measurements: Each earring measures approximately 3/4" long, 3/8" wide at the base, and 1/4" at the thickest point.
Condition: The earrings are in very good antique condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the setting or to the opal cabochons, both of which are intact and free of chips or scratches. The earring posts are secure. There is some slight natural color variation throughout the setting, attributed to the gilded finish and a light patina. This is normal for antique jewelry and adds to its beauty and character.
